Leave it to TMZ to ferret out the REAL truth of the matter. While I think Akon is pretty much nasty, in his defense, the girl in Trinidad he faux-raped was in an 18-and-over club, so he had every reasonable expectation that the girl was, in fact, 18. Not to mention the fact that she was wearing something that covers less than what Britney Spears leaves dance class wearing, and that’s really saying something.
The best news for Akon is that the girl has a MySpace page, which is now set to private after it was found. In addition to one picture that looks like she just got out of the shower, she claimed on MySpace that she was 19 years old, and posted pictures of the events at the Akon show with a caption “girls nite out! best time!!”

Verizon just dropped their sponsorship of the Gwen Stefani/Akon tour after the video released on YouTube that showed his simulated humping of a 14-year-old (or 15-year-old depending on your news source) girl at his concert in Trinidad. Verizon didn’t give a reason for pulling their sponsorship, but it seems like a no-brainer. TMZ reports that he’s being threatened with prosection in Trinidad over the incident, which confuses me a bit since I’d read reports that it was supposed to be an 18-and-over show and if I had a 14-year-old who left the house dressed like that, I’d probably have locked her up. He’s crude, but it’s not like this is a huge surprise; he already had a dry-hump sandwich with a Tara Reid filling earlier in the year.
