Apparently, Eddie Murphy is one sore loser. After losing out on Best Supporting Actor to Alan Arkin at last night’s Oscars, he bailed on the remainder of the ceremony, leaving before Jennifer Hudson won her Oscar or his co-stars performed the three musical numbers from the movie that were nominated for best song.
I have to admit I was cheering when Arkin won more as a cheer for Murphy losing, but maybe that’s just me. And perhaps he should have considered that released a film like Norbit hot on the heels of his Oscar nomination might impact the Academy votes. Just a thought, you know, in case there ever IS a next time for him. Although I seriously doubt it.

What a relief. Abigail Breslin looked so cute and surprisingly age-appropriate in her princess gown at the Oscars. All of these child stars seem to be way too mature for their age (Dakota Fanning…) and it’s kind of creepy, so seeing Abigail act normal and fun is shocking. In a good way.

Penelope Cruz looked really fabulous for the Oscars. Less is more yet again, because even though Penelope’s gown is huge, everything else is in proportion and looks great. She didn’t try any overly-vamped poses or gobs of jewelry–thank goodness! There could have been a fashion disaster brewing, but she pulled it off just fine.

Every year I think that Meryl Streep might be a little closer to crazy, and this year some straw finally broke a camel’s back and she went off the deep end.
I have this horrible time confusing her with Glenn Close in my mind, but that’s a constant problem that I have with celebrities. I think that my filing system is somehow messed up when it comes to people, which is rather funny considering I’m here BLOGGING ABOUT CELEBRITIES.

Here I was, all ready to talk about Nicole Kidman on her own. I mean, I saw her on the red carpet and realized she thought it was a costume party. The E! folks thought she looked all pretty and glamorous dressed up as a Christmas present and all. And that could have been an entry on its own, but for the fact that apparently the invites DID say it was a costume party.

Either J. Lo raided her grandmother’s closet for her Oscar look or she actually decided to let Grandma have her ticket.
I know that that E! correspondents are all over how “great” she looks but between the wig I’m pretty sure my mom had back in 1969 or so and that dress that would make ANYONE look about 50 pounds overweight, this look has “mother of the bride” written all over it.
For a woman known for being glamorous on the red carpet, she’s totally gone downhill this awards season.
